Janet Cole Adkins Memorial Page

Flash Presentation Memorial

Letter from Tanya, her daughter
(describes the event and the family's reaction to it)

Tributes:

Your mother's faith and strong belief was the first thing I noticed and admired.   I haven't known her as long as some of the others have, but she was very special to me and I will miss her smiling face, level head and constant optimism.  I too believe that the Lord wanted to spare her suffering and she is now by His side.

It is obvious she has spread those beliefs to her children and all that knew her.

May God continue to bless all of you.

I have not corresponded with you until now, but have read all your emails about your mother, and our friend.  I served with her on the TCCFUI Board for many years.

I knew Janet's faith was great by just visiting with her, but never, until now, knew that faith has been so deeply embedded in her children.  Both of you have written such wonderful things about your mother, as a parent and as a child of God.  What a blessing your correspondence has been to me and I imagine to everyone who has read your words.

The last correspondence from Janet was that she would be out of pocket for a couple of weeks from the surgery.  Then we began to receive your reports.  From the beginning my prayer was for her full recovery.  God has seen fit to give her that recovery differently than we prayed, but nevertheless he answered the prayers of many on her behalf.

My prayer now is that God provide your family with the continued peace that passes all understanding, that God place in your heart and mind the knowledge of her everlasting life, and that God give you all pleasant memories of your mother.

Thank you for relaying the news concerning your mother. Let me extend my deepest sympathy to you, your dad, and all of Janet's family. Janet was a real joy to be around. She was one of the most dedicated, moral and ethical human beings I have had the honor to know and work with. We all loved her dearly.

What a beautiful and moving memorial.  Janet was a wonderful woman and friend, and I'm sure she was a great mom, also.  I feel a great loss in losing her as a friend, so I can imagine what you familyl members are feeling.  When I lost my dad, a friend asked me if I would bring him back to suffer as he had been.  I had to admit I would not.  Somehow, that made me feel better.  Maybe it will bring a little comfort to you and your family.

Janis called me with the news yesterday.  I was shocked and saddened but ultimately came to the same conclusion you did – this was God's way of shortening her suffering. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you and your family. We were all blessed to have your mom in our life.

I know the days ahead will be very busy for you, so I would like to offer to temporarily take over the emailing duties and any website updates can just wait. Let me know.

Thank you Tyler for sharing your sister's letter and for your kind words about your mom.  Yes, she was very special and I can say that from someone that has only known her for 3 years – but I feel like I've known her all my life.  She had the gift of making you feel special and appreciated.  She will be missed by many and I thank God that she didn't suffer.

I can't begin to express my sorrow at the death of your Mother. While I know she has gone to be with the Lord and that therefore I should be happy for her, I can recognize only my loss. I have known, loved and respected your mother for many years. I am also proud that she called me friend.
