Following the briefing, the representatives unanimously determined there existed a need for sufficient interest to form a statewide coalition of cities on utility matters. The group also determined that the scope of the coalition should be to:
- collect, analyze in an objective manner, discuss and distribute information on utility related matters;
- participate and develop positions in utility regulatory body rulemaking dockets and on bills proposed in the legislature relating to utility matters; and
- work cooperatively on matters relating to utility franchises and fee issues.
There was considerable discussion on how to select a board of directors. After lengthy discussion, the following cities indicated an interest in serving on the board:
The group then decided the Board of Directors would meet to determine how the organization should carry out its functions and estimate resources needed.
